Growing up in West Virginia, Barbara was always painting.  Throughout her early educational years and while at The University of Cincinnati where she studied design and fine art, she evolved her love of painting graduating with a degree in Design.

During her college years and beyond, she worked for Yale University’s Peabody Museum writing and illustrating lectures for children.  These lectures for schools around New Haven were a wonderful experience.  This grew into writing and illustrating booklets for the Smithsonian Museum in Washington.

Working with her architect husband in the same firm in New Canaan Connecticut, she did interior design, presentations and models.

She raised two daughters while doing many art shows, winning many awards including a one-person show for the Audubon Society of Westport, CT.  She acted as a design consultant for several Connecticut firms including free-lance design for a children’s book.

She is currently working on numerous paintings of Maine as well as her own children’s book set at Popham Beach, Maine.  Throughout her career, she has done watercolor portraits for clients here in the US and Europe including portraits of their pets.

She has experimented with several painting styles primarily in watercolor and acrylic.

She has been in Maine for more than 40 years and a permanent resident for 15 years.  Her love of Maine and its endlessly beautiful landscape is a source of constant delight and inspiration.  Her most recent work is playful colorful and in this turbulent time, happy and exuberant.
